As stated in the article regular exercise won’t cure depression but it does help release sertonin known as the feel good transmitter. Studies have shown that just 10 minutes of exercise helps release this neurotransmitter in the brain. Once released the desire to exercise increases and a person will be more motivated to continue. Learning and memory:

Serotonin plays a role in cognitive functions, including learning, memory, and attention. 

Hormonal balance:
Serotonin is involved in the production and regulation of other hormones, such as melatonin and cortisol.
